Redevelopment of Fraserburgh North Harbour to increase port efficiency

Design & build contract carried out in an exposed tidal location in Fraserburgh Harbour.

Works included dredging the North Harbour, the existing entrance to the North Harbour, and the navigation channel to the main Outer Harbour Channel to remove soft sediments and schist bedrock.

The new Black Sands Quay, an open pile structure design with rock armour revetment below, is also being constructed. The 64-metre quay includes a fendered berthing face, bollards, and area lighting.

Works also involved the stabilisation of the Middle Jetty, North Pier, Entrance Structure, and West Pier.

This major fishing port remained live throughout our works and was subject to 24-hour working.

As the port had to remain operational, all works were undertaken in the wet, and no dewatering of the harbour was permitted. We worked collaboratively with the harbourmaster and port users to deliver the project while ensuring minimal disruption.
