Health & Safety

The wellbeing of our workforce is fundamental.

McLaughlin & Harvey prioritises Health, Safety and Wellbeing always. Our employees, subcontractors, suppliers, visitors, and members of the public take absolute precedence when it comes to compliance and governance.

Delivering the highest standards of
health and safety performance

We all must be diligent in taking care for the health, safety and wellbeing of ourselves, colleagues and anyone who may be affected by our actions. We all have an individual responsibility to challenge unsafe practices, report unsafe conditions, and comply with all health and safety requirements.

McLaughlin & Harvey regard compliance with legislation as the minimum standard to be achieved. We will promote best practice throughout our operations with the aim of continually improving. This will ensure our management teams can deliver the highest standards of health and safety performance throughout our business.

We are committed to preventing injuries and protecting health and wellbeing by driving improvements, creating innovation, and challenging conventional views and practices.

Our health and safety management system has been certified by ISO 45001, SafeContractor and CHAS.

Our You Matter programme also supports our management system and enables us to continually support our workforce, both at work and at home.

Standards for our
supply chain

All of our supply chain must demonstrate their health, safety, environmental and quality competencies through our pre-qualification process.

Only once the key competencies have been established, and our subcontractor commitment statement signed, will the subcontractor be deemed an approved supply chain member.

Supporting our
employees and supply chain

We regularly support several health and safety campaigns each year including Stop. Make a Change, Respiratory Health Week, Mental Health Awareness Day.

As well as our annual You Matter Health and Wellbeing Roadshow which encourages our employees and subcontractors to “Get on Board”!

The roadshow first started in 2006 and has become an industry-leading health and wellbeing initiative supporting staff, subcontractors, the client and the communities in which we work.

Allowing both our site-based and office-based staff, clients, and subcontractors an opportunity to get a health check-up including a blood pressure and BMI check, and free advice on healthy eating, stress and lifestyle.
