Refurbishment of Victoria Terminal 1 and Albert Quay Linkspans to improve their functionality and reliability.

Both linkspans are located in Belfast Harbour; Northern Ireland’s principal maritime gateway and logistics hub.

The Harbour is also the fifth busiest commercial port in the UK.

Both of the linkspans and walkways were refurbished with areas of rust firstly cleaned off, before being treated and then repainted. The existing linkspan hinges were also replaced.

We also carried out repairs to berthing fenders and dolphins.

Mechanical works included the removal of the upper deck control system and the replacement of lower deck hydraulic hoses.

Additionally, a new bulkhead lighting system was also fitted and tested.

The works were carried out in a busy live port environment. We worked with key stakeholders to minimise the impact of the project on the landside ferry terminal operations.

To minimise disruptions to Stena Line vessel operations, we conducted most of our operations from land with limited marine plant usage.
