Bearsden Primary School underwent an advance package of refurbishment works in 2025.
The project included four new boilers being installed and all windows replaced. The refreshed building now boasts new storm doors at the main and side entrances to the school and extensive stonework repairs were carried out.
External restoration works revealed original lettering on the west elevation of the building which refers to the school’s previous name ‘Bearsden Academy’ and on the advice of Historic Environment Scotland, the original lettering was restored. A feature window displaying the school’s “BPS” logo was also installed at the front of the school. The original sign was framed and presented back to the school.
All refurbishment works were carried out in a live school environment. Bearsden Primary School remained fully operational throughout the project’s duration. The team also had the additional challenge of working within a tight site space that was in close proximity to main roads.
The project was delivered in partnership with SCAPE Scotland and our client East Dunbartonshire Council.
