Providing flood protection while also redeveloping the riverside area to be more attractive and accessible.
Works involved construction of 3km of reinforced concrete flood walls, and embankments on both banks of the River Ness from Friars Bridge, north to the river mouth.
Sheet piled foundations, drainage and pumping stations were required to control seepage and run-off.
The project was registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme and we kept the local community up to date with regular monthly newsletters, also facilitating visits from a local school and providing sponsorship to a local football team. The scheme received a score of 45/50 against an industry average of 36/50.
