Design and construction of a new store, circa 301390sqft, including external works and associated highways at Newcourt Way, Exeter.
The project specifically included the site preparation, the shell and core of the building and external works to the proposed new store. McLaughlin & Harvey were also responsible for the retail fit-out.
The store is constructed over two levels, with a further area of car parking in the undercroft. It is a steel frame construction with precast concrete floor slabs and a metal cladding exterior.
The Aluprof curtain walling, doors, windows, and Record sliding doors were also supplied by our Frameworks division.
A plaque was erected in memory of former Royal Engineer John Frost in the mechanical plant room. John would often walk from his home on the nearby Newcourt estate to photograph the project as it took shape. Such was John's interest in the build that his family even arranged for an IKEA sticker to be placed on his coffin at his funeral.
