OUR MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING COMMITMENT
At McLaughlin & Harvey, we are committed to promoting and protecting the mental health and wellbeing of all our colleagues and fostering open conversations about mental health challenges.
We recognise that many factors influence the mental wellbeing of our team—both in the workplace and at home.
By understanding and addressing these influences, we can not only support individuals in leading healthier, more fulfilling lives, but also strengthen the resilience and performance of our business as a whole.
Mental Wellbeing
At McLaughlin & Harvey, we offer a range of support services including:
128 Trained Mental Health First Aiders
Our network of mental health first aiders is equipped to identify early signs of distress, offer empathetic support, and guide individuals towards appropriate professional help. Contact details are available on our site noticeboards.
Regular Site Stand Downs
These scheduled pauses in work activities provide an opportunity for reflection, conversation, and connection. They encourage teams to engage in open dialogue about mental health and take time to reset and recharge.
Awareness Initiatives and Annual Roadshows
Throughout the year, we run targeted campaigns to raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental health. Our annual Health and Wellbeing Roadshow extends support not only to our employees, but also to clients and subcontractors—reinforcing our commitment to the wider construction community.
Health and Wellbeing RoadshowDedicated Wellbeing Hub
YouMatter, our online platform, offers resources, guidance, and access to support services. It is a central hub where our people can find tools to manage their mental wellbeing and stay informed about upcoming initiatives.

Partnerships with charities and mental health organisations
We regularly collaborate with organisations such as MindCanyon, which specialises in workplace mental health, and The Lighthouse Club, a charity focused on the emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing of construction workers and their families.
We believe that mental wellbeing is everyone’s responsibility
By fostering a workplace culture where mental health is openly discussed and actively supported, we help reduce risk factors. We always aim to create an inclusive environment where individuals who have experienced mental health challenges are supported.
At McLaughlin & Harvey, we are proud of the progress we’ve made—but we know there is always more to do to address mental health issues in the construction industry. We remain committed to reviewing and evolving the mental health support available to our team.
