DIGITAL CONSTRUCTION

What is
digital construction?

McLaughlin & Harvey’s digital construction team delivers exceptional project outcomes through data-driven solutions, BIM technology, and industry-standard methods.

Digital construction involves the integration and application of digital tools to enhance efficiency and maintain consistency throughout every phase of a project’s lifecycle.

With the growing emphasis on effective information management and the digitalisation of processes, construction companies have modernised and embraced technical innovations. Effective management of information is crucial to the success of a project.

At McLaughlin & Harvey, we invest in digital tools that have been extensively researched and tested to ensure our digital solutions align with, and support, our clients’ objectives.

With a strong focus on accuracy and sustainability, every decision is data-driven, and we prioritise information management and process digitalisation throughout our operations.

In-House Expertise

We are unique in having a ten-strong team of digital construction experts who manage all projects digitally in-house. We also have eight fully qualified in-house drone pilots who work across all client projects, undertaking site surveys and mapping and documenting site progress.

Our team has access to a range of digital tools, selecting the most appropriate for the task at hand. Whilst we utilise the most up-to-date technology, we don’t just jump on trends, and everything goes back to the core principle of better information management.

Standardised processes are used to define, deliver, and verify information throughout every phase of the project, from initiation to completion, with seamless real-time reporting. Additionally, we ensure that all our clients receive accurate construction information (PIM) and comprehensive handover documentation (AIM).

Industry Standards

Clients can feel confident that we work to the latest industry standards, methods and procedures, adhering to BS EN ISO ISO 19650-1&2 and associated standards plus IFC Schema.

Better Information Models (BIM)

We focus on creating accessible documentation for our clients and supply chains, enabling them to visualise a building or structure. Adopting a collaborative approach, we leverage the latest Better Information Models (BIM) technology to create intelligent models that improve project planning, reduce errors, and optimise resources before construction begins.

Better Information Models contain coordinated geometry, data, and documents created by our in-house team who work collaboratively to agreed standards, methods, and procedures.
