McLaughlin & Harvey recognised for health and safety at the 2026 Construction News awards

McLaughlin & Harvey has won the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Excellence (Company) accolade at this year’s Construction News awards.

The award reflects our efforts to implement a wide range of processes, standards and activities aimed at preventing injuries and protecting health and wellbeing by driving improvements, innovating, and challenging conventional views and practices.

Health, safety and wellbeing are vital in any construction team. At McLaughlin & Harvey we recognise our responsibility to go beyond compliance, for our employees, clients, supply chain, and the public.

Our YouMatter Health, Safety & Wellbeing Roadshow demonstrates our stringent focus on health and wellbeing.

In 2025 the Roadshow saw record attendance, with 19 sites across the UK visited by our bespoke bus. It was our most ambitious year yet for the initiative, which offers vital health checks to colleagues, clients and subcontractors.

During the roadshow, 1,079 participants accessed our Health Checkpoint Services, which include blood pressure, diabetes, BMI and cholesterol checks, all designed to detect health issues early and enable participants to take action quickly. This was a year-on-year increase of 31%. The health checks resulted in 128 GP referrals for participants.

Other initiatives and programmes – such as our Black Hat Academy and Health & Safety Reboot – are further demonstrations of our commitment to health and safety across all of our business operations.

“This award is testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team at McLaughlin & Harvey and their commitment to upholding the highest health and safety standards day in, day out.

To be recognised in this way, and to come out on top in the same category as so many brilliant organisations and initiatives, is a very proud moment for us.
