2024 long service milestones celebrated

Date Posted 04.07.24

Last week we recognised the incredible dedication and hard work of 48 employees who mark long service milestones with the business in 2024.

At McLaughlin & Harvey, we believe our greatest asset is our people. We are committed to nurturing a supportive work environment, which is evident by how long our people stay with us.

People are proud of what they do here. Working on iconic projects across different industries we encourage everyone to have a say on how we deliver our projects.

7 of the group reached 25 years of employment with the company; a remarkable accomplishment! We invited them to meet with our senior management teams to celebrate and reflect on the incredible journeys they have shared with us.

We caught up with two of our quarter-century employees, Colin McCullough and Gerard Morran.

Colin McCullough

Colin began his McLaughlin & Harvey career as an Apprentice Joiner, before moving into site management whilst working on our Charles Hurst Land Rover Showroom project located on the busy Boucher Road in Belfast.

Now as Operations Manager, Colin is responsible for some of the most complex projects McLaughlin & Harvey have ever undertaken, including the £17m redevelopment of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. The project involved a multi-phase upward and outward extension of the existing live hospital. This is a project that both Colin and McLaughlin & Harvey are particularly proud to have completed, especially as works were undertaken during the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Gerard Morran

Originally hired as a subcontractor at Barr Environmental, in 1999 Gerard transitioned to McLaughlin & Harvey and has been involved in many notable projects since, such as the construction of the new £95 headquarters for Barclays bank, a flagship building located in the heart of Glasgow on the banks of the River Clyde.

Our people tell us that projects, empowerment and belonging are what make it good to work here.  We continually strive to create an environment where our people can contribute to our long-term success, as seen in the career paths of both Colin and Gerard.
