Renewal and upgrade of the existing Sconser Ferry Terminal.

The busy ferry terminal serves the ferry transporting passengers and vehicles from the Isle of Raasay to the Isle of Skye.  Ferry provider CALMAC had built a new hybrid vessel with increased capacity, which was not suitable for the existing terminal.

Works included the provision of temporary welfare facilities for the public using the terminal before the demolition of the existing waiting room and toilet block as well as the demolition of existing outdated terminal facilities including an existing private slipway.

We constructed a temporary slipway to accommodate the berthing of the CALMAC vessel during our works. This included the installation of temporary berthing piles and fenders.

Our works also involved the construction of new rock armour revetment to accommodate the reclamation area, and the construction of a new terminal building which incorporated security, passenger services, toilet blocks and a waiting room.

Additionally, a new 72m long slipway was constructed, and the existing jetty was refurbished with the installation of a new fender system.

The ferry service was maintained throughout our works.
