Queen's University Belfast MBC Anatomy Wing Extension

Construction and fit-out of a 6-storey vertical extension to the existing live 2-storey Medical Biology Centre (MBC) Anatomy Wing.

These additional floors provided 34,445sqft of office and research accommodation for the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Facilities include cellular offices, open plan offices, meeting rooms, interview rooms and research space.

This was a constrained, city-centre site located on the occupied Queen’s University’s Health Sciences Campus and adjacent to Belfast City Hospital.

Feature of ProjectConstrained Site

This was a constrained, city-centre site off Jubilee Road, located on the occupied Queen’s University Belfast Health Sciences Campus and adjacent to the City Hospital, a 900-bed modern university teaching hospital providing local acute services and key regional specialties. Our site was also in the immediate vicinity of offices and residential properties. In addition, another Contractor was working on a neighbouring café in the MBC building. We worked with the Client to develop and implement a Traffic Management Plan with various measures taken to minimise disruption to surrounding stakeholders.
