Redevelopment scheme at London Luton Airport.

Works included the construction of a new pier and link building; a two-storey extension to three existing terminal buildings which remained operational.

As well as an extension to existing boarding and arrival gates, and the reconfiguration of the international and domestic baggage halls.

We also refurbished the International Departure Lounge as part of our works.

The scheme involved the amalgamation of the two buildings into a single Terminal increasing the floor space by approximately 25% to 925,696 sqft.

The improvements to the terminal reflect the changing demands on the airport including changes to security standards, changes in passenger conduct, the growth of online check-in and, most importantly, an actual and anticipated increase in passengers.

Both landside and airside works progressed within a live airport which remained fully operational throughout the contract. The works were phased to minimise disruption to the functioning airport and to accommodate access dates for third-party fit-out contractors.
