Port Ellen Pier Extension

Design & build scheme extending the existing pier on the Isle of Islay to accommodate CalMac Ferries Ltd sailing between Islay and the mainland.

Port Ellen is also used as an active fishing port and the inner harbour is used by leisure craft.

Works included construction of a sheet piled pier structure encapsulating the existing pier, dredging at the berths and installation of rock armour scour protection and revetments. As well as, relocation of the existing steel linkspan from the north berth to the south, including strengthening of the linkspan deck and provision of new supports.
