Oxfordshire Advanced Skills (OAS) is a training programme that provides apprentices with qualifications in skills vital to supporting technical industry in Oxfordshire.
The OAS building is based at Culham Campus which provides capacity for up to 350 apprentices supporting UKAEA alongside industrial partners. As part of the Fusion Foundations Programme, a significant investment was awarded to UKAEA in order to expand their leading apprentice scheme, with a view to provide appropriately skilled people when needed to deliver fusion and related programmes.
Phase 3 works will provide an additional 2,560sqm of additional training accommodation to allow OAS to expand their offering to include Level 4-7 Apprenticeships in Space, Robotics, Nuclear Design, Energy Storage and Power Engineering.
Works include an extension to the current OAS facility comprising of a two-storey flat roof steel frame building including six classrooms, a workshop, a laboratory, meeting rooms, canteen and breakout spaces.
This project is a demonstration of our ability to run concurrent projects for the Client across multiple sites on the one campus. Simultaneously with this project, we are also delivering the Office and Main Gate projects. To ensure smooth progression of the concurrent works, weekly coordination meetings are attended by our Site Liaison Officer. Maintaining the operations of the live campus is one of the most important elements of the project.
The second scheme awarded to us through the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Framework Construction Works & Associated Services.
