Royal Wharf Pier, London

Construction of a ferry pier for the Thames Clipper Service which provides access for Royal Wharf residents.

The scheme also involved the construction of approximately 3,385 private and affordable residential units along with associated retail, leisure and community facilities.

Works included demolition of the existing redundant island jetty, which was previously used as a fuelling jetty with a buried oil line. This was replaced with three fixed bridge spans, each approximately 15m long, on piled supports to provide access from the riverside walkway to the viewing platform / bankseat.

The project provides a viewing platform and a floating pontoon, which provides a berthing facility for Thames Clipper river ferries and a covered waiting area for customers using the service.

The site is located on the River Thames at Silvertown, 700m upstream from the Thames Barrier.
