Design & build of a new three-storey 18,299sqft primary school, along with the 1,981sqft refurbishment of an existing Grade 2 listed building.
Facilities include general teaching classrooms with their own external learning zones, practical teaching space, multi-purpose hall in line with Sports England specifications, break-out space, central social hub, library, staff area, and ancillary space.
The site was located within the heart of Camden Town, North London, in close proximity to the Stables Market and Camden Lock Market. Both of which have very busy foot-fall with members of the public and trading units in almost constant operation. The market also has a number of evening venues, cafes, bars and night clubs. It was important to secure the site and to restrict access and maintain security.
The site undertook various activities, led by our CCS Ambassador, to impact positively on the area and the surrounding community. Activities included feedback questionnaires distributed to residents throughout the project, site visits for construction students from the local Westminster Kingsway College, as well as, a Health Awareness Programme was delivered covering a schedule of awareness events including mental health, child safety, learning disabilities, blood cancer, blood pressure and Men’s Health. Free health checks and free fruit were also provided on-site.
