Reconfiguration of an existing retail park and redevelopment of the site into a 320,000sqft retail destination with fifteen outlets.
The shopping park offers an exciting new shopping experience with a covered promenade in front of the retail units which separates customers from the car park and provides protection from the weather.
Works consisted of the demolition of existing and reconstruction of new units which included the Marks & Spencer general merchandise store and Debenhams department store. We were responsible for the maintenance of services and providing access to three retail units that continued to trade throughout the construction phase.
The River Swift runs through the site before joining the River Avon which became a main environmental issue. As there was a history of flooding within the site area, an element of the project deliverables was to install a canopy across the river. We worked closely with the Canal River Trust to prevent any impact on the river and its wildlife from the construction works. We ensured that none of the works including access and storage facilities approached 10m from the top of the riverbank. We established a filtration system to prevent any spillage to the river.
