Linkspan refurbishment works, including blast cleaning, and preparing and repainting the linkspan including the fender unit.
The works were carried out in an exposed location.
North Colonsay is a Special Protection Area and the works methodology was agreed with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency. In addition to the monoflex encapsulation, we used Garnet as the grit in the shot blast process, which is a semi-precious natural stone with inert properties.
Due to the remote location on the west coast of Scotland, material deliveries had to be ordered well in advance to ensure arrival for use on-site, in accordance with the programme.
