Construction of a new 38,642sqft waste transfer unit on the site of an existing recycling centre drop-off in Edinburgh.
Works involved the construction of a new single-storey steel portal frame warehouse, along with a double-storey office and welfare facility.
The site was re-graded with new hardstanding, drainage, lighting, and security installations throughout.
This was our first project under the City of Edinburgh Council Contractors Works Framework.
The Council operate a Community Benefits Points System for the framework. On this scheme we had to achieve a minimum of 600 points, and we greatly exceeded this by achieving a score of 988. To achieve this, we delivered a bespoke Community Benefit Action Plan for the scheme. Examples of activities undertaken included site visits for Edinburgh College students, regular community engagement through regular progress newsletters, and engaging with external training providers to highlight career opportunities and run training and skills courses.
