The William Keown Trust Annual Prestige Access Awards were recently held at the Lagan Valley Island Conference Centre in Lisburn.
The awards recognise owners, architects and builders who have gone the extra mile, when designing new and renovating existing buildings, so that those with a disability can have access to and move around as independently as possible.
This year the Trust awarded certificates to 16 buildings which included the new conference and exhibition facilities to the Belfast Waterfront Conference and Exhibition Centre. Works included the construction of a 3-storey, 4,000sqm extension, augmenting the existing Waterfront Hall to provide exhibition space, banqueting facilities for up to 750 people, 5 multi-functional rooms each capable of holding 200 people, a gallery, a meeting suite, offices and storage facilities.
Trevor Taylor, Vice President of the Trust, presented the award to Stephen McBride of Belfast City Council and Leanne O’Neill of McLaughlin & Harvey.
