McLaughlin & Harvey has successfully completed the 601 space, Glasgow Fort multi-storey car park.
The development sees parking provision at the retail complex increased by 25%, bringing the total number of spaces up to 2,500. A new vehicle management system has also been installed to make it easier for shoppers to find vacant spaces.
McLaughlin & Harvey provided all works associated with the project, including boardwalk frontage, landscaping, feature cladding, lift installations and public stairwells. Retail units have also been installed totalling 11,500sqft of catering spaces positioned on the ground floor.
Architects, Cooper Cromar submitted alternative plans for the expansion at the start of the year. The initial stainless steel cladding was switched for perforated Corten steel. A curved timber clad steel enclosure was also added to strengthen the visual and physical connections along the broad walk.
Paul Griffen, Construction Director said: “This has been a great development to be part of. We are a major employer in the west of Scotland, and this project has allowed us to work with local suppliers and contractors wherever possible. With the recent retail expansion at Glasgow Fort, we hope that this new car park facility will help to accommodate the anticipated influx of additional customers.”
The new car park is now open to the public.
