Scotland’s Best Employer awards, which are held by Scottish Business Insider, recognise and reward companies and organisations who put their employees at the heart of their business.
This year, McLaughlin & Harvey won the Best Health & Wellbeing Award.
This award is open to companies who demonstrate their commitment to employee health and wellbeing.
Over the past 10 years, our Healthy Working Lives Group (HWL) has worked hard to deliver campaigns that are meaningful and relevant to our people. This allowed McLaughlin & Harvey to integrate a strong culture of health, safety and wellbeing within the organisation in an interactive way.
For example, annually our health, safety and wellbeing bus takes to the road visiting our various construction sites across Scotland and England. The purpose of the bus is to provide site workers with health advice and the chance to visit an occupational health nurse. Other initiatives carried out include Movember, Pink Day for Cancer Research, and a lunchtime walking club.
We believe these initiatives and forward thinking strategy around health and wellbeing is making a positive effect on our business. This strategy is fully supported be senior management and will continue to be developed in the forthcoming years.
