McLaughlin & Harvey’s Frameworks division has been awarded a commendation at the Schüco Excellence Awards for Design and Innovation 2016.
The commendation recognised the division’s “excellence in the design and installation of Schüco systems” on the Ulster University Block BB project.
Block BB was the first phase of a landmark Greater Belfast Development by the Ulster University to amalgamate their Jordanstown Campus with their Belfast city centre campus. Block BB has provided 91,493sqft of additional space for the Faculty of Art, Design and the Built Environment.
The 3-storey lantern, which contains open-plan studio space, was enclosed on all sides by 14m high Schüco FW 60+ SG curtain wall screen suspended from a system of roof trusses.
Mark Burns, Façade Designer at McLaughlin & Harvey, commented, "This was a challenging job for Frameworks, both technically and operationally, and the experience has definitely put is in a position to take on larger and more complex projects moving forward. We were delighted that the hard work and successful delivery of the Block BB façade were recognised by a Design & Innovation Award from Schüco."
