A volunteer team from McLaughlin & Harvey has been participating on the annual Think Ahead project being run by the Caledonian Club at Glasgow Caledonian University.
The objective of this project is to highlight to pupils some of the potential career destinations available to them post-school, and to help them identify what school subjects and potential routes they could follow to reach those destinations.
The Caledonian Club is a multi-award winning widening participation and community engagement initiative. The Club works with school pupils and their families in five of the most socially deprived areas in Glasgow to help raise aspirations and break down perceived barriers to higher education.
The Club is unique as it works with year groups from nursery through to secondary school to deliver projects both in-school and on-campus that enhance the school curriculum. The projects help to build key life skills that will lead to positive and informed post-school destinations and life choices.
While attending, McLaughlin & Harvey promoted its trainee schemes to pupils; educating them on the different career options the company could offer including Quantity Surveying, Project Management or Engineering.
Pupils took part in a range of activities from tests to dressing up and acting out different professions, as well as constructing bridges to a budget and completing teambuilding exercises.
