McLaughlin & Harvey continue to expand their construction portfolio in the South East of England with the completion of Haybrook College, Slough.
The project consisted of the construction of a new 500sqm 1-storey classroom extension to the existing Millside School building along with the construction of a new 1830sqm two-storey sports hall and classroom block. All works were carried out within a live school environment.
The site was registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme and achieved an excellent 42/50 through the development of a comprehensive Community Engagement Plan. McLaughlin & Harvey in conjunction with the Head Teacher provided a careers talk on the construction industry to local students, contributed seeds and planters to the local community, donated to the local Woman’s Aid, and provided good-will garden improvements to the local hospital, as well as various other activities.
A Site Waste Management Plan was implemented which achieved a 93% recycling rate, motion sensors were installed on lights, push taps introduced, and ‘Save Energy and Water’ signs displayed throughout the site to encourage good practice. All activities were supported by a Site Waste Champion.
Graham Mitchell, Client representative, highly commended our work stating, “McLaughlin & Harvey became an integral part of the school fabric, working with the management and pupils in a collaborative, safe and diligent fashion which has delivered a project on time and on budget.”
