On Saturday 31 August, a team of McLaughlin & Harvey employees entered into the competitive spirit and took part in an exciting Tag Rugby fundraising event at Belfast Harlequins, in aid of the Newforge Taggers.
Hosted by Perennials RFC and Newforge Taggers, this special event involved a festival of tag rugby involving approximately twenty teams of both able-bodied players and players with learning disabilities, playing together in the same team. Wrapping up the day was an evening event which saw participants hang up their rugby gear and enjoy dinner, live music and a charity ballot.
With the weather on our side, a fantastic day was had by all. Our team was thrilled to represent McLaughlin & Harvey at the event, which saw an amazing total of over £10,000 raised for the club!
The Newforge Taggers Tag Rugby Football Club was established in September 2006 and is a Tag Rugby Club for those with learning disabilities. The first club of its type in Ireland, the club has seen member numbers continue to grow.
The players, who are both male and female, all have learning disabilities. The club caters from age six with no upper age limit and new members are always welcome.
