Important changes to our supplier qualification process

McLaughlin & Harvey support the drive to reduce duplication and unnecessary paperwork in the construction industry, therefore from 1 October 2013 we will be using Constructionline to manage our supplier and subcontractor lists and to prequalify new supply chain members.

What does this mean?

If you wish to be considered for the full scope of McLaughlin & Harvey work, you will be required to become a member of Constructionline, and keep your membership up to date. You will no longer be required to submit any other form of prequalification information to us.

We will utilise Constructionline to prequalify and monitor our supply chain members. This will include a requirement for a health and safety assessment from a recognised SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement Scheme).

By working closely with Constructionline in this manner, we can ensure that the burden and costs borne by subcontractors and suppliers through multiple and repeated prequalification processes across the industry is greatly reduced.

We advise you that there is a small fee involved in registering with Constructionline, but believe that this will be offset by the reduced resources saved completing PQQs for us and other main contractors who use Constructionline services.

What is Constructionline?

Constructionline is a UK government certification service for construction-related contractors, consultants and material suppliers, and has been developed to save the industry millions of pounds by cutting the amount of duplication in the pre-qualification process.

By joining Constructionline you will have satisfied the basic pre-qualification requirements. This means that you will only need to submit your Constructionline registration number and any project-specific details to pre-qualify for contracts.

What is SSIP?

SSIP is an association of health & safety assessment schemes. They are supported by the HSE and accept that each other’s systems are of a good standard and in line with the CDM 2007 regulations. Through this “mutual recognition” SSIP are striving to remove the need for contractors and consultants to undergo multiple health and safety assessments.

The aim is that you only need join the health and safety scheme of your choice to demonstrate you have satisfied health and safety requirements to “stage one” level.

Please visit for further details.

If you are not currently registered to a SSIP scheme, you can also apply to Constructionline’s Acclaim at the same time. To do this, at the point you reach the health and safety questionnaire – please select the option for full Acclaim assessment.
