McLaughlin & Harvey have been actively involved in the Tidal Energy Sector since 2005, and are market leaders in the deployment of tidal energy devices including foundation installation, cabling and operation and maintenance.
We were therefore delighted to sponsor and exhibit at the RenewableUK 2013 Wave and Tidal conference hosted in London over 27 and 28 February 2013.
This annual wave and tidal conference / exhibition is the leading trade event in the UK for the sector and always attracts an array of attendees, and this year was no exception. Attracting over 550 delegates from leading international companies, the conference provided an excellent opportunity for those interested in hearing the latest developments of the industry and to gain an insight of the future growth of wave and tidal technologies in the UK.
Our role in this event entailed sponsoring the delegate bags for distribution at the event, as well as acting as guest speaker on a conference panel dealing with emerging technologies. The paper we delivered was titled, “Tackling the installation challenge: Our winning approach to Tidal Device Foundations”, and highlighted our credentials in the industry and detailed the various challenges faced when deploying foundations and turbines in the wave and tidal environment. We also introduced our innovative subsea drilling and installation method for tidal energy device foundations, which is commercially viable, based on proven technologies, and suitable for a range of turbines and ground conditions. Interest in the method after the panel session was encouraging and we will be updating the industry further at the All Energy Conference in May 2013 in Aberdeen.
As part of our role as guest speaker, we were delighted to be interviewed as part of the conference review video, which can be seen here.
Being part of this prestigious event allows McLaughlin & Harvey to showcase ourselves as a leading organisation within the sector. It also provides the opportunity to highlight our support to the renewable technology industry, as we continue to work with various developers on projects across the UK to ensure renewable energy plays a leading role in the sustainable future of the UK energy industry.
