McLaughlin & Harvey recently began construction works at the Haybrook College site in Slough, a project which will see the existing campus redeveloped to offer the local and wider community an improved learning environment.
The project involves the construction of a new sports hall, extension to the existing Millside building, alterations and refurbishment to existing facilities, resurfacing works to the existing MUGA pitch, and associated external works to car parking areas.
We are currently progressing with foundation works in preparation for the structural steel arrival by the end of June 2013. Once on site, the duration of the steelwork erection is anticipated to be 3 weeks, after which the floor slab and roof truss construction will progress.
We are well aware of the effect construction works can have on the local community and as such will go to great lengths to ensure our works have minimal impact on the local area.
We will actively work alongside the local community and Slough Borough Council to manage disruption and deliver professional, effective site management. Measures introduced will be on-going environmental management and monitoring, community engagement and traffic management.
As part of our commitment to leaving a lasting impression through these construction works, we have registered the site with the Considerate Constructors Scheme - a voluntary national scheme aimed at improving the image of the construction industry and promoting innovation in site management. As part of our extensive experience with this scheme, we will carry out various initiatives to ensure interaction with the local Slough community.
We are delighted to have been awarded this contract, and look forward to liaising with the community over the coming months.
