McLaughlin & Harvey Offshore were delighted to have been invited by the Department of the Environment (DOE) Barroso Team to co-present at the Sustainable Energy Week in Brussels, as part of a Northern Ireland delegation which also included CASE, Questor, Wright Bus and Belfast City Council.
On 26 June, we presented at the Sustainable Energy & Innovation Seminar at the Office of the NI Executive in Brussels. At this seminar, we outlined how we have developed innovative, cost-effective Tidal Array Deployment solutions and how these can be deployed to help regions meet EU targets.
As well as forming part of this Sustainable Energy & Innovation event as part of Sustainable Energy Week 2013, our McLaughlin & Harvey Offshore team met the European Commission to discuss sources of funding for future research and development opportunities. We were also pleased to gain the opportunity to meet key European Marine Energy Developers.
The DOE Barroso Team has set itself ambitious energy targets with regards to sustainable energy aiming to increase Northern Ireland draw-down of European Funding by 20%, and have identified McLaughlin & Harvey Offshore Research and Development project into foundation installation techniques for wave and tidal energy devices, as a key project in achieving this goal.
Sustainability is of paramount importance to McLaughlin & Harvey and this key involvement at Sustainable Energy Week 2013 highlights our commitment.
