McLaughlin & Harvey are currently on-site at Sumburgh Airport in the Shetland Isles where remedial works continue to progress well.
As part of our on-going commitment to engaging with key stakeholders and local communities, this site is registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS). This voluntary scheme is aimed at improving the image of construction sites and ensuring that main contractors impact positively, act considerately and leave a legacy for the local community.
Our community engagement strategy involved the site’s Project Manager William-John Cunningham and Site Engineer Jessica Dale visiting Dunrossness Primary School. During their visit Primary 1 pupils were presented with construction toys replicating the plant and materials used on site, and both pupils and teachers were given an update on the progression of works.
The school is currently planning to create a play garden for pupils, and McLaughlin & Harvey have offered to assist by providing some workers and plant from the site.
We would like to thank Dunrossness Primary School for providing us with the opportunity to attend the school, and we look forward to visiting again.
