McLaughlin & Harvey reached a new high at the Irvine Leisure Centre development as they erected a symbolic weather vane, which had once sat on Irvine's Toll Booth.
The development milestone also marked almost a year to the day that work officially got underway,
McLaughlin & Harvey was joined at the topping out ceremony by the Provost of North Ayrshire Council, Council Officers, and representatives from KA Leisure and LA Architects.
Prior to the official ceremony, McLaughlin & Harvey and the project architects showed councillors and representatives from KA Leisure around the site to provide an update on progress being made at the development.
The facility is now weathertight and work is progressing well, on time and on budget.
When complete, the leisure centre will include a 25m six lane swimming pool, teaching / warm up pool with changing facilities and spectator seating, a six court multi-use sports hall, community facilities, fitness suite, café, and the historic Town House.
McLaughlin & Harvey Operations Director Danny Mathieson said: "We have reached an important milestone in delivering this state-of-the-art facility which will no doubt become a central community hub for the people of Irvine. This is an important project for the area and as a local company we are extremely proud to be playing such a significant role in delivering a first-class sport, leisure and community facility which will fit with the history and traditions of the site. Now that the building has reached its highest point, people can get a sense of how the centre is taking shape as we progress to completion."
