McLaughlin & Harvey has completed construction and formally handed the new Omagh Hospital and Primary Care Complex over to the Western Trust.

Western Trust Director of Strategic Capital Development, Alan Moore said: “This is a major milestone for health care provision in the Western Trust and in particular for the Omagh community and I am proud to accept the keys to this state-of-the-art hospital and primary care complex. I would like to pay tribute to everyone who has been involved in the planning and construction of this magnificent hospital who have worked hard to ensure that it has been built to the highest standards.”

He added: “Now that the Western Trust has taken ownership of the building, the programme for stocking and equipping the hospital begins.  Our staff are already undergoing the necessary training and familiarisation, in preparation for the transition to the new facility. Western Trust staff will now be working tirelessly to ensure everything is in place to begin treating patients on the 20 June 2017. We look forward to continuing to deliver a high quality service to the people of Omagh and the surrounding areas for many years to come.”

Alan McKee, Senior Construction Director at McLaughlin & Harvey said: “We are delighted to be here today recognising the achievement of construction completion reached on 8th May . This has been achieved through an excellent working relationship between the Western Trust, McLaughlin & Harvey and design team led by Todd Architects.  The Western Trust now has a fabulous facility in a magnificent location which everyone connected with is justifiably proud of.”

The new facilities include 40 single en-suite bedrooms for in-patients, including separate areas for rehabilitation and palliative care.
