The new pedestrian footbridge at Moira Train Station has been officially opened by Transport Minister Danny Kennedy.
The footbridge, which is situated at the southern end of the platforms, will allow customers to safely cross the rail tracks when the barriers are down. This will allow users to access the services quicker and more conveniently than before.
Works included the construction of a 15m platform extension in advance of the bridge works, off-site fabrication of the footbridge, and the on-site erection of the footbridge over one weekend.
Danny Kennedy, Northern Ireland’s Transport Minister, commented, “The construction project will provide increased levels of safety and convenience for passengers and I commend Translink, McLaughlin & Harvey and their steelwork sub-contractor Fabrite for completing the scheme on schedule and on budget. I am confident that that the improvements will be warmly welcome by everyone using Moira Station.”
